I am calling this blog thing off.  I will let you know if I pick it up again.  Meantime, all the best...

When was the last time you stuck out your tongue at work?

I like this picture and the fact that as he put it to me on Saturday he's a bit "soft" right now.  Whatever!

Well Sandy's almost done with the worst of it, for now, and everyone owes him applauds for keeping his head in the game.  Nice work and keep it up!   Enjoy the well deserved break and sunny warmth.  Wish I could make it down there.

Haven't been too good on keeping up with the blog lately, but that might change.  Might not.  As SP1 says, "Enjoy everyday!"

Busy, busy...

it's so easy to get down this time of year, this sometimes feels like me:

Coincidence?

Thanksgiving passes and it snows...

In Psalm 46 of the King James Bible, published in the year that Shakespeare turned 46, the 46th word is "shake" and the 46th word from the end is "spear."

Dorothy and the Scarecrow point and take off on yellow brick road just as "see you on the dark side of the moon" come around the first time...

Lincoln and Kennedy both have 7 letters in their name...

When Dorothy pounds on the Tin Man's chest, the heart beat starts...

When you google "coincidence" most of the entries have to do with supposed coincidences of 9/11...

"In reality," says mathematician John Allen Paulos, "the most astonishingly incredible coincidence imaginable would be the complete absence of all coincidences."

Knock that around for a while...

New Season

Well cross season is officially over.  I had some fun, but never felt like I had great fitness.  My power improved through the season, but I wasn't able to get the quick top-end recovery needed for cross success.  No worries tho.

Ski season is now upon us and Big Sky is now open.  Had a great weekend as it is still kind of warm here.  Enjoyed a nice ride yesterday and got out for some trout slaying on Saturday.  Aside from the cold feet, I really enjoyed it and even landed a reasonable rainbow.  Plus, I got to check out the Yellowstone River just upstream from Livingston with my boy RevP.  It was great to see him this weekend!

School is continuing well and will finish up for the semester next week.  The up side is that I can focus on my experiments, but the down side is that I will need to take my qualifying exam.  Good times....

With that in mind:

Cross racin

So I helped put on a race this past Saturday.  Turned to be a bit muddy and loads of fun!  Here is a link from the local paper:  The Chronic--what--cle of Bozeman.

Our good friend, Marjo, who is now Dr. Marjo after a successful defence, took this rad picture of me:

Otherwise all is well.

Shout out...

Things are continuing and with Thanksgiving and the end of the fall semester very near that can only mean one thing:

Sandy (seen below) turns a year older than I am today!

Happy Birthday!

May the next year be filled with knowledge, friends, happiness, joy and of course bike gaming in your "new" age group!

My uncle Joe

Everyone has some great memories from being a kid.  For me some of the best are spending time in the Summer on the Cape at G&P's with my Uncle Joe, Aunt Elaine and their boys, Matt and Jon.  Baseball was played in the street, soccer in the yard, windows were accidentally broken, hermit crabs were chased, and fish were caught on the jetty.  Little did I know at the time how much these memories would stay with me.

As I grew older, my Uncle and I would often get into conversation in the evenings while watching baseball.  I always enjoyed these conversations immensly even though he and had very different views on things there was always a fundemental common ground that we both appreciated.  Luckily for me I got to experience this one last time this past Spring when I visited him and Aunt Elaine.

For several years, my Uncle has been in a tremendous battle with cancer.  As is too often the case, the cancer won out on 27 October and he is no longer with us.  I am very greatful to have the memories of him that I do and it is with great pride and honor that I say he is part of my family.  I will never forget him and the impact he had on my life.  May he now find the peace that his battle had to have made difficult over the past years.  And may my aunt and cousins find peace and happiness in his memory.

Home

I have made it home and am very glad to be here. The trip was pretty easy and the jetlag is almost gone. The weather here has been awesome--cool, dry and sunny. Lola has definitely grown in size and in personality while I was gone.

I fell off the back posting in the second half and will work on some more updating. Until then, I have a weekend to enjoy...

Math joke

I can't seem to find the energy for an actual post, so here a joke that I find really funny. Must mean I'm a dork, but that's not news after all...
