Going to Montana

So we close on our house tomorrow (Friday) and with any luck the remaining ducks will fall into place.

Gonna tear us up some carpet, fix some plumbing and overall enjoy a weekend in our new house. We just found out we are only the third owners of this house. Kind of neat considering it was built in 1928!

I must point out that we are not actually going to sleep in the new house cuz we don't have a bed there yet. Plus, D&A have an actual bed for us...

Trot, Trot to Cleveland

Trot Nixon is the definition of a Dirt Dog. I love the way this guy plays and was glad to see the 10th man showing him appreciation.

Trot--You deserve it!

For those unaware, Trot made his return to Fenway last night since he was traded to Cleveland in the off-season.

Lets go, Red Sox!

So even with the best record in baseball, I am nervous about the Yankees. Lefort has some interesting quotes and all on both sides agree that the Yanks need a sweep or the first nail might be going into the coffin. The Sox are sittin' pretty and are probably their only enemy right now.

This is like if Lance had tried for #8 and lost 10 minutes in the first week. Insurmountable? Not really. Maybe unlikely. There is a lot of baseball left and I will be glad if the Sox take just 1 game in this series.

ESPN is airing the games on Monday and Wednesday.

ION, A & I couldn't be more excited for SBPj. He also managed to win himself a bike race this weekend and the rest of our team rode quite well. I actually had some legs until I hit a hasty pothole and flatted a couple miles later. It seems that a lot of guys are thinking I flat a lot, but this is actually the first time this year for me in a race. I am ready to give up the bad luck if someone will take it from me!

Enjoy the games...

TBS--that is one of my favorite scenes of all time. I love the whole "Its your job to shut up. And its your job to back me up because without me you'd starve!"

Next time you see Sandy...

Congratulate him on what I think is the 2nd greatest accomplishment of his life! The first being that he has lived with me for over 10 years!

YFFFF

That stands for "Yippee For the Floyd Fairness Fund."

I was going to download the ppt outlining his "case," but felt that I or my computer might then test positive for something...

Oh yeah, we are selling a Mini Cooper if you are interested. Offers accepted as comments.

if 6 were 9...

Six runs in the ninth; talk about a come back! Not as big as the Greatest Comeback in Sports History!, but still pretty fun to pull of a good win. Now I am not saying the sun might refuse to shine or the mountains may crumble into the sea, but 8 games is a hell of a lead in the perennially tough AL East!

Notice the ball is not where it is suppose to be (lower left corner) along with the pink sweatbands:

And who doesn't like a little guy who reportedly ran the bases several times after the game:

Great to see the tribute made by so many players on Mothers' day. I wouldn't expect anything less from Tek.

Schill on Bonds*, doping, and penguins

Schill has issued a public apology for his honest opines on Barry Bonds*. Even though I do not agree with Schill politically, I think a lot of the guy. Two words--bloody sock! Steroids, speed and other drugs definitely seem to be a problem in baseball and I think that Bonds* has cheated. Its all about money anyway.

Cycling is no different. The recent admissions in the Operacion Puerto scandal have really put what I think is the worst and most permanent scar on the sport yet. Turbo makes some excellent points about a certain Texan and now more than ever calls his performance into question. Change is needed in sport--for the kids sake!

On a bit of a lighter note, a family recently traveled to Sea World with their young son born with Down Syndrome. This young man apparently always has his backpack with things he collects from places he has been. The story goes that he ran away from his family on a stopped roller coaster and was missing for several hours before being found asleep on bench. The parents realized the youth smelled badly and decided to call it a day returning to the hotel. Upon entering the room, the young man sprinted into the bathroom and locked the door. After a while, the parents suspected something was amiss and had to break down the door to get it. Apparently, they found that the young man had somehow stolen a penguin and brought it back to the hotel unbeknown to anyone!!

Finally, Beckett has won 7 so far this year and the Sox are holding quite well. The Yankees have gone shopping which any woman can tell you should make them feel better! Maybe they will show up after all...

Some stats

1-2 for the team at the bike race on Sat. Plus, some others in the top 10--a good day! Truly, a good job by anyone who was able to finish considering the conditions out there.

The Sox had claim to a stat that always makes me nervous over the weekend; best record in baseball. As it turns out, the Brewers of Milwaukee took that back winning 3 of four from the Pirates of Pittsburgh.

Clemens is returning to the Yankme's and I wish him good luck. I am glad the Sox did not overextend their budget to bring him in. I am sure that sacrifices would have been made and they are playing just fine right now, with a little room for improvement. Of course, the Yankme's are getting heat because they are only in 2nd place in the AL East. Trust me, they will pull it together.

My last class at the U finished and now I just have to finish my thesis! The house in Bozeman is a go and Anna will probably move up in June while my thesis will probably keep me here into July. My goal is to defend by the end of the second week in July which should enable me to finish everything here and get to Bozeman in time to start.

In the meantime, the strawberry plants are blooming and I can not wait until they fruit!
